Thank you for supporting HunterWiSE
Thanks to your kind donations, over $2,000 was raised through Gifting Day to support and empower women in STEM through HunterWiSE.
Research shows that over the course of high school, female students in Australia come to believe that careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) are not for them 1. HunterWiSE, developed at the University of Newcastle, aims to shift these beliefs, using a unique and effective mentoring model to inspire and foster confidence in young women.
Diverse representation in all fields of work is incredibly important: it prevents unconscious bias in services delivered and products created, and narrows gender pay gaps. Today, in the STEM disciplines, women remain vastly outnumbered by men.
Your support enables HunterWiSE to continue its unique peer-to-peer mentoring model and helps progress towards gender equity in STEM.
